Antique American Robert Mitchell High Back Mahogany Arm Chair, Savonarola chair with North Wind carvings, also known as a Dante chair , Circa 1900-era. The chair ornately carved with lion's head finials and having an ornately carved back. The Savanarola-shaped base with carved grotesques as handles and standing on ornately carved lion's paw feet. This arm chair was illustrated in Robert Mitchell's catalogue from 1902 with the model #66-1337A. The 'A' designates the mahogany version of this chair, which this is, the chair was also available in quartered oak, which had two finish options: Golden or Antwerp. This chair is the larger, more deluxe version of the standard Robert Mitchell "Roman" arm chair.
